Gene Takle is professor of atmospheric science and agricultural meteorology and Director of the Climate Science Initiative at Iowa State University. He holds a BA degree in physics and mathematics from Luther College and a Ph. D. in physics from Iowa State University. He has been a member of the ISU faculty since 1971, but has served visiting scientist positions at the University of Colorado in Boulder, the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, Riso National Laboratory in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder. Takle's research interests include computer modeling of microclimates created by shelterbelts; regional impacts of global climate change; and improvements in roadway weather forecasts. |
