Workshop
Producing Biodiesel: The Renewable Energy Group
The Renewable Energy Group was formed through a partnership with West Central, the nation's largest marketer of biodiesel, and engineering and construction firm Todd & Sargent in Ames, IA. They formed an alliance with process equipment builder Crown Iron Works, in Minneapolis, MN to develop their turnkey design, which features cutting-edge performance at every stage of biodiesel production. The Renewable Energy Group's (REG) expert staff can provide all of the steps needed in production; process engineering, permitting and registration, safety management, site preparation, construction services, training and BQ-9000 Accreditation assistance. Those who participate in this demonstration will learn about REG's continuous "zero discharge" transesterification process, be introduced to state and federal tax incentives in the biodiesel industry and discover just how many ways biodiesel can be used. Participants will be able to watch a biodiesel demonstration, and make biodiesel themselves out of vegetable oil. The demonstration and tutorial will be lead by Myron Danzer.
